My journey into design consulting began standing in the smoke-filled remains of my family’s 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom raised ranch. Like you, I faced the unthinkable loss, followed by the bewildering bureaucracy of insurance claims, confusing building codes, and contractors who only wanted to replace what was lost and not build what was possible.

Fortunately, as the co-owner of a plumbing and HVAC company, I had an insider’s knowledge of the construction process, trade pricing, and subcontractor management. This unique edge allowed me to cut through the industry jargon and bid inflation that sidelines most homeowners.

The hardest part of the rebuild wasn’t the construction; it was navigating the gap between what the insurance company would pay for and the home we wanted to build. I realized that homeowners dealing with disaster need more than an architect or adjuster, they need a strategic advocate.

I took that trauma and turned it into a Master Plan: transforming our old raised ranch into a spacious home complete with a new master suite floor, a two car garage along with a 1-bed/1-bath in-law suite above it, and modern design upgrades. I successfully negotiated for the “betterment” that allowed us to build a more resilient, beautiful, and functional home.

Co-Owner, Plumbing & HVAC Company: I have spent years on the ground, managing the most complex and expensive mechanical systems of construction projects. This background gives me an insider’s view on quality, pricing, and project sequencing that a typical consultant simply does not have.

Direct Cost Control: By managing our own home rebuild, I personally hired every subcontractor (electrical, framing, etc.) and knew exactly when to push back on pricing. This expertise allowed us to save over 15% on our total build cost– savings I now help my clients realize.
